The Best of South Africa

An 11 day tour from Cape Town to Joburg taking in the best of South Africa

Depart after an early breakfast to Oudtshoorn. Travel via the town of Montagu, with a stop in the pretty village of Barrydale for tea, before continuing to Oudtshoorn, known as the "Feather Capital of the World" due to its huge ostrich industry. Visit a nearby ostrich farm for an informative tour, lunch and an ostrich race. Later we go underground to marvel at the icy formations in the Cango Caves, one of South Africa's most spectacular natural wonders.

The next morning after breakfast we drive via the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to Knysna. Here we board the Featherbed Nature Reserve Cruise and view the imposing sandstone "Heads" which guard the sea entrance to the lagoon. Our specialist guides will share some of the fascinating tales of the surrounding areas while we enjoy the scenery and lunch.

Today we travel via the glorious indigenous Tsitsikamma; first we visit Monkey Land and/or The Birds of Eden before heading to Storms River Mouth to explore the wonders of the Tsitsikamma Forest, then on to Port Elizabeth. The next morning we Board our flight to Durban, where we have the opportunity to catch up with old friends in the afternoon/evening before carrying on our way the next morning to the iSimangaliso wetlands that surround St. Lucia.

We travel north into Zulu land passing the lush verdant fields of cane to our hotel in the village of St Lucia. In the late afternoon we board a sunset cruise to view the iSimangaliso Wetlands. The next morning is at leisure before we are collected for an afternoon Game drive at Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Park.

Continuing our journey north the next day to the tiny kingdom of Swaziland, a former British Protectorate, now ruled by King MsWati III. Paying a visit to the Swazi Candle Factory, before checking into your hotel for an afternoon at leisure.

 Departing after breakfast, we travel to the famous Ngwenya Glass Works to see local Swazi master craftsmen at work and then continuing northwards and re-entering South Africa at Jeppes’ Reef, passing through the rural parts of Mpumalanga, skirting around the Kruger National Park, to arrive at our hotel at Hazyview.

We set off very early, before breakfast, in open safari vehicles in search of lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard, and all manner of wondrous wildlife including birds and plants. Returning in the early evening with wonderful memories and savouring the magic of this enormous wilderness.

Bidding farewell to the Lowveld and travelling via God’s Window to the spectacular Blyde River Canyon, taking in some of the most breathtaking scenery of the Lowveld and escarpment, we continue towards Dullstroom via Mashishing to arrive in Joburg in the late afternoon.

The next morning we say ‘Fare well’ to our fellow travelers and either head off to OR Tambo International Airport for our onward flight or meet up with friends and family for the rest of your holiday in SA.
